My father is planning a family trip to Rio de Janeiro. This beautiful city in Brazil is our dream place. We have been planning the trip since 2017 but till now due to inevitable events we failed to achieve it. So, I made sure that this time we will surely explore the beauty of Rio de Janeiro. We all are so much excited about the trip. My brother arranges the tickets with the help of United Airlines Reservations. For a remarkable trip, we bought some seasonal clothes and booked hotel rooms to stay in. Our departure date is just one week away when we came to know about the Covid-19 outbreak. We were so scared like other people and when the conditions went worse we decided to drop the plan. The virus has reached many countries like- China, Italy, United States, Germany, France and many more. About 32000 people died all over the globe due to this CoronaVirus. 1- As per the policy, the airline will not charge a single penny as cancellation charges if the tickets are canceled within the reservation date.

7- If the passenger is traveling with a membership program then they will receive travel points when they failed to board.

8- Full refund to the passenger with a refundable ticket. They do not require to pay cancellation fees.

While going through the policies I came to know that United Airlines is canceling the flights to the country affected by the Covid-19 Virus and the airline modified its policies.

1- No cancellation charges will be imposed on passengers traveling to China, Italy, United States, Germany, France, and many more countries affected by the Covid-19 Virus.

2- For a full refund, the ticket must be purchased directly from the airline authorized portals.

3- The airline will not charge cancellation charges if the ticket booked in the month of March.

4- According to the United Airlines Cancellation Policy for the Covid-19 virus, the airline will not offer compensation or refund if the passenger cancels tickets for a country other than the country with CoronaVirus cases.

5- The airline advised each patient that if they are sick then he or she can cancel the ticket without paying the cancellation charges.

This policy gave me a chance to reschedule the trip for free of cost. I was so happy and satisfied with the airline cancellation policy. After knowing the policies, I discussed all the policies with my father. He was happy that we will get a full refund, so I asked him if he wanted to reschedule the trip. But with a goofy smile he said no, we will plan this trip later.

1- Opened my web browser and visited the official site https://www.united.com/en/us.

2- Completed the sign-in process by using the User ID and password.

3- Click on the My trips tab

4- Entered the confirmation number (which I received on my email ID with my e-ticket) with entering the last name and clicked on the search tab for the next step.

5- Selected the ticket (whom I desired to cancel) and filled up the reason for the canceling the ticket.

6- After submitting the request, my refund amount is displayed on the screen. I accepted the amount and completed the cancellation process by clicking on the Proceed to cancel tab.

I received a mail on the registered email ID from United Airlines. In the mail, it was mentioned that the refund amount will be transferred to my account within three weeks. I am happy with the resolution and I will definitely look forward to book the future trip with United Airlines.
